Planning a wedding is an exciting journey filled with love, laughter, and stress! Let's talk about how we work with vendors at our local wedding venue near Columbus, Georgia.
We Work Together Towards a Common Goal
As I mentioned in a previous blog, a wedding day requires many characters to pull it off! This ranges from bartenders, to caterers, to photographers and coffee truck owners. We are all there to deliver a "product" that everyone is happy with, and will make memories for years to come. In order to make it all happen, we don't just show up and hope that it works out. Prior to the wedding day, many conversations and organizing must happen. As a venue owner, I may not talk to every vendor, but there are definitely key pieces of information that I, and many other vendors, must know and work towards as a team.
The Caterer
Without food, well....you'd have a lot of hungry guests. In general, most people get very excited about eating. Food can be one of the biggest expenses at a wedding, so having a delicious (and professional) caterer is a very important decision. Caterers work with the couple in the beginning stages of wedding planning to organize a tasting. This allows for the couple to choose food that not only they will love, but that their guests can enjoy too. A venue owner may need to know a couple of things before the wedding, like licensing and insurance. At our venue, we have two choices when it comes to serving food - in our kitchen on our big, wooden island, or a traditional buffet line in the main reception room. This requires some communication between myself and the caterers, so that we have a plan in place and we can talk through any obstacles.
The Photographer
We all know that a wedding day can be chaotic. Throughout the day, so many special moments happen. This is where our amazing photographers step in. They are always observing and waiting for those sweet moments to capture. A mother helping her daughter zip up her wedding dress, that little brother trying to tie a tie for the first time. Every single moment that makes up the wedding day is special, and our photographers are there to freeze those moments in time. A photographer will usually contract in different increments of time. During those hours, he/she is there to get all of the photos that have been requested by the couple. A photographer's timeline is just as important as the day of coordinators, so teamwork ensures those timelines work in unison.
The DJ
No wedding is complete without music to get guests on their feet and dancing and to set the vibe for the wedding. The DJ can "read the room" so he/she knows what to play to get people dancing, or when to slow down the mood so that special dances can be had by the bride and her father. The DJ spends many hours before the wedding to curate a playlist that fits the style of the couple, their family and friends. Working throughout the event to avoid any technical difficulties and provide smooth transitions from song to song, mood to mood. Music is a huge part of the wedding day... can you imagine a silent ceremony? A wedding day is not complete with our beloved DJs and what they bring to the table.
Embracing the Collaboration
In the intricate tapestry of a wedding day, collaboration among vendors is the thread that weaves everything together. Each vendor brings their unique skills and expertise to the table, working together to bring the couple's vision to life. Communication is key, and when we all work together, every detail is sewn together beautifully to create the perfect wedding day! At our wedding venue, we may not all sit down together in a room, but between meetings, phone calls, emails and text messages, we can all ensure we are on the same page. Team work makes the dream work, as they say!
Until next time...
